NEW MILFORD FARMLAND PRESERVATION COMMITTEE

In 2006, New Milford Mayor Pat Murphy established the New Milford Farmland Preservation Committee, charging it with assisting the town in identifying and implementing strategies for acquiring and protecting farmlands.

In 2007 the Committee created a brochure describing the community's agricultural heritage, importance of farmland, strategies to protect agricultural land, and steps that residents can take to support farms and describes a proposed Farmland Preservation Fund. The Committee also created a Strategic Action Plan that year.
